The Global Village Project
Bangalore, India
20th - 28th November 2010
Your chance to make a difference to the advertising community and to the wider world.
In November 2008 a team of 24 people from across the communications industry travelled to Bangalore in India in order to take part in a new event in the NABS calendar. They spent a week working with a local family to build them a new and permanent home - none of them had previous building experience. Our team were the first Westerners to work on a project of this kind in the Bangalore slums - an experience that proved to be a physical and emotional challenge for all of them.
Working in association with the charity Habitat for Humanity, the team raised sponsorship money that was split equally between the two organisations. Habitat used their half to continue to work towards their goal of eliminating poverty housing in the developing world while NABS continues to support people from the communications industry across the UK.
NABS will be returning to India in November 2010. This trip is now fully booked, however, to find out more about this project, please contact the Events team on 020 7462 3150 or via e-mail to events@nabs.org.uk

The 2008 team was joined by NABS Events Manager, Ian Edwards. Over the course of the week Ian wrote a blog to keep us all up to date as to what was happening. To read it, click here
