Challenge yourself in 2008 ... and raise money for NABS

The Community Challenge is a new event scheduled for November 2008, to be run in conjunction with the charity Habitat for Humanity.  A team of 20 volunteers will be sponsored to go to a developing world country and work on a simple building project.  Find out more.

NABS is working with Horsesmouth

Check out Horsesmouth where social networking meets social enterpirse. This is social networking for grown-ups.  The skills and knowledge you've gained could be invaluable to people facing the same choices and challenges.  Find out more about how to become a Mentor.  www.horsesmouth.co.uk

NABS Running Club

Get fit with LGN Running Clubs

As a special offer to our amazing team of Reps, we have joined forces with LGN (Look Good Naked), a company that specialises in the organisation of “running clubs” for corporate clients – to offer you the chance to join a special NABS Running Club

You will benefit from a dedicated trainer who works with the small group (12-15 people), developing goals and a training programme that will be tailored to
suit you, whatever your fitness level.   You will have personal e-mail contact with your trainer between sessions, weekend “homework” to keep you motivated between sessions, and also of course, the support of the rest of the group.

Each session will last for one hour and includes organised warm up, cool down and stretch routines.  The sessions themselves will be hugely varied and instead of just going for a “long run”, the focus will be on developing running and cardiac fitness through shorter ‘interval’ sessions, anything from 10 second sprints or hill work through to timed loops that might take 2 minutes.  There will also be key sessions that are revisited periodically so that you can compare and contrast times with other members and see the tangible gain in your fitness levels The hour session will also include core stability work and static resistance.

It doesn’t matter what your fitness level is – as the training is interval based, a complete beginner and experienced marathon runner can train in the same session as everybody will work to their own fitness level and thus progress equally.

We will initially have one session each week, on Tuesday evenings, setting off from the NABS offices (47-50 Margaret Street, W1W 8SB) at 6.15pm.  Each session costs just £5 per person.

With rugby, football, netball and a 10k run coming up over the summer - not forgetting November's Community Challenge - this is a perfect opportunity to start your training and benefit from personal fitness instruction at a fraction of the price you would normally expect to pay.

To sign up, contact Penny Walshe (p.walshe@nabs.org.uk) - places are limited and will be allocated on a "first come, first served" basis, so get in touch now to avoid disappointment!
