Marketing Masterchefs Do Battle !!!
At the moment you can’t turn on the television without having your taste buds teased by a cookery programme: Hell’s Kitchen, Come Dine with Me, Masterchef and, of course, smooth tongued Gordon Ramsay’s F Word.
Now competitive cooking has come to NABS in the form of “The C Word”.
On an unseasonably warm evening three amateur industry chefs swapped creative briefs for a hot kitchen to cook up a meal for around 40 invited guests. The location was acclaimed Gastropub The Idle Hour in Barnes and the chefs, Enfatico’s Neil Scaife, AMV’s Gary Grant and Jonathon Hall, formerly of Publicis and Ogilvy and now a freelance business development specialist.
The guys met when they all worked together at Publicis and the idea was born after Gary’s appearance on the BBC’s Masterchef programme (no, he didn’t win and yes, he was robbed!).
The premise was simple – each chef would cook one course and the diners would give a score. Neil served a starter of alder-smoked scallops, followed by Gary’s carbonara main course. For dessert, Jonathon offered rose and cardamom scented ice cream.
Time to vote and after a closely fought competition, dessert chef Jonathon Hall was announced as the winner!
Guests – mainly industry friends and colleagues - all paid for their meal, with a percentage of the profits being donated to NABS.
Jonathon would love to defend his title against some more industry chefs so if you fancy yourself as the next Jamie Oliver, Nigella Lawson or have the crazy creativity of Heston Blumenthal … give the team at NABS a call or send an e-mail to p.walshe@nabs.org.uk to find out more about the next event and to get involved!
And here's where they did it!
