NABS Big Bash

26th February 2008
Battersea Park Evolution

This year's Big Bash took place on a chilly Tuesday evening at the end of February.  Leaving the weather behind, the venue was transformed into the Havana Club to reflect this year's theme

Everybody was offered a rum cocktail on arrival before moving through into the main arena for an evening with a real Cuban flavour - sprinkling everything from the food to the entertainment with a touch of Havana magic!

Following in the tradition of top-class entertainment, this year's event was hosted by comedian Rob Brydon with a headline performance from the original "nutty boys", Madness whose arrival heralded a stampede of revellers heading for the stage (reports of earthquakes across the region are, we believe, unrelated). Back in the Havana Club, the evening was finished off with a set from the Cuban Brothers, current darlings of the festival scene.

This year's event looks to have raised more money than ever before for NABS - with the "money can't buy" auction bringing in some spectacular bids.  A more modestly priced card game, the "Cuban Shuffle" meant that everybody could have a chance to win a great prize with Jo Fraser from Shortlist Magazine walking away with the top prize of a week's holiday in Cuba.

Thank you to everybody who came along on the night to join the party.  If you weren't there, check out our photo gallery to get a taste of what you missed and make sure to book your place for 2009 !!!
