NABS Netball

Friday 25th July 2008

Battersea Park Arena

As the summer finally arrived, we finished off a hugely successful summer of sport with the NABS Netball Tournament, held at the new venue of the Millennium Arena in Battersea Park.  Following on from the Rugby 7s and 5-a-Side football tournaments held earlier in the summer, the netball was the third NABS event to see a big increase in teams entered, with representation from every sector of the communications industry seeing creative, digital and DM agencies competing against media agencies and owners.

Competition between the girls was as fierce as you might expect when the industry’s finest go up against each other.  After a full afternoon of matches, the final for the Trophy was played between Five TV and The Times with the girls from Five winning by 9 goals to 7.

The runners up from the Group stages competed for the plate, with finalists DDB London and last year’s champions John Ayling & Associates going head to head with the final score 8-7 to DDB.

Kristy Schwind from DDB London was named Player of the Tournament

The event raised £13,600 for NABS – over £5k more than last year’s total.

Thank you to everybody who came along to play and to support on the day.  Hopefully next year’s tournament will be even bigger – watch this space for more details over the coming months
